Renovation dilemma: All at once or in stages

If you have several renovation projects in mind for your home, you'll face the same questions all homeowners face: Should you tackle each project individually, or should you just go for it, stress out to the max, and get it all over with in one swoop.

The answer depends on your budget, the amount of time you have to oversee the work, and your patience with the inevitable construction delays.

If you have a limited budget, but expect to have more money for different projects in the future, it may pay to do your work in stages. Smaller projects are easier to oversee than big projects (the time involved seems to grow exponentially) and smaller projects take less time.

So before you commit, spend a few minutes to plan out how you're going to survive your renovation. It could make the whole experience a lot more pleasant.
